Client Testimonials
“5D Horizons has provided invaluable specialist input across our father-engagement and safeguarding programmes. Dr Tara Dickens’ advisory role within the RCT of ISAFE across 7 English local authorities, a systems change intervention designed to improve how children’s services identify, assess, and work with fathers, has been particularly significant.
ISAFE combines practitioner training with organisational development to ensure fathers are visible in assessments, risk is understood through a whole family lens, and engagement with men is both purposeful and safe. Tara’s contribution strengthened our understanding of how to work more effectively with fathers in complex family systems and supported practitioners to recognise the psychological factors that can shape men’s behaviour under stress, particularly where there is a risk of harm to children.
Her evidence-based learning materials have helped social workers think more clearly about the internal world of high-risk fathers, improving professional curiosity and supporting more confident, defensible decision-making. The clarity and accessibility of her guidance have been consistently valued by teams navigating complex safeguarding scenarios.
Within the Fathers for Change programme, an evidence-based intervention for fathers with young children who have perpetrated domestic abuse, 5D Horizons has developed and delivered learning materials that support clinicians to build rapport and use empathy safely and purposefully.
Fathers for Change integrates cognitive-behavioural work, attachment theory, and family-systems approaches to help fathers regulate emotion, strengthen co-parenting, and reduce harmful behaviours. The training provided has been grounded, realistic, and attuned to the pressures of frontline clinical work.
We have retained Tara as an advisor throughout delivery because her input strengthens formulation discussions, supports safe engagement, and helps practitioners maintain both curiosity and professional boundaries.
Across both projects, 5D Horizons has provided psychological expertise, operational understanding, and ethical clarity. It brings a calm, evidence-led perspective that is particularly valuable in environments where decisions must balance engagement, risk assessment, and child safety.
We would confidently recommend 5D Horizons to any public-sector organisation seeking to enhance the quality of its decision-making and its work with fathers in safeguarding and complex casework.”
